I've been using and quite liking the Dewy Sunscreen SPF 30 for a while. However, looking at the ingredient list, it was never clear to me which of the ingredients actually provide the sun protection (not a chemist). So I asked AI... which pointed out that one of the sun-protecting ingredients is Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane. Also known as avobenzone. With my limited knowledge of chemistry, I don't know if this is a good or a bad ingredient. I have, however, heard the controversy regarding the safety (e.g. endocrine effects) and chemical stability of avobenzone, as well as concerns regarding environmental effects.
I am only writing this review because I strongly feel it should be listed in the ingredients list that this product contains avobenzone. E.g., "Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (Avobenzone)", instead of simply "Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane". A consumer might recognize "avobenzone" but not the "butyl metho... something". As a regular consumer, I feel misled.
I wish I could find a suitable mineral sunscreen instead. Sad.
