HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE PHA TONER? PHA Toner can be used in your AM or PM routine. Although it acts as a gentle exfoliant, we recommend to not exfoliate more than 3x per week as it can potentially lead to over exfoliation. We advise to build up usage gradually from 1-2 days to 3-4 days etc. Do you need to use a toner? >
CAN I LAYER IT WITH OTHER INGREDIENTS? We do not recommend layering this with exfoliating acids (AHA, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Apple Cider Vinegar), Vitamin C and Retinols in the same routine as this can cause irritation. We suggest using these on alternative evenings and ensuring you start of slowly to ensure you don't sensitise the skin What products should I not layer together? >
SHOULDN’T I APPLY PHA TONER RIGHT AFTER CLEANSING? We suggest using your Hyaluronic Acid first, it can help your following products including toners work better acting as transport for them into the skin! Apply your Hyaluronic Acid and wait 30/60 seconds before gently patting your toner into your skin. This can absolutely be personal preference and you can use them the other way around if you prefer!
DOES THE PHA TONER CAUSE SUN SENSITIVITY? It doesn‘t cause sun sensitivity due to PHAs antioxidant and humectant properties. This is why every skin type can enjoy our PHA toner, even the sensitive ones. We always recommend using an SPF as the last stage of your AM routine to protect against potential damage.
WHY IS THIS GOOD FOR DRY SKIN? PHA’s humectant properties naturally lock in moisture. Aloe Barbadensis Leaf juice helps soothe the skin and Niacinamide can help maintain your ceramide (lipid) barrier, which can, in turn, helps retain moisture.
WHICH INGREDIENT IS THE POLYHYDROXY ACID? PHA can exist as either Gluconolactone or Lactobionic Acid, but we use the Gluconolactone.
WHAT'S THE % OF PHA? There's 3% PHA in the formula.
WHAT'S THE % OF NIACINAMIDE? PHA toner contains 3% Niacinamide.
WHAT IS THE PH LEVEL OF THIS PRODUCT? PH LEVEL: 3.62.
AHAS VS PHAS - WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE? Alpha Hydroxy Acids are water soluble and work on the surface of the skin. They can help nourish the skin while exfoliating and encouraging cell turnover. Use in the PM and protect your skin with SPF during the day. Polyhydroxy acids also known as PHAs have a larger molecular structure than AHAs. They exfoliate in a milder manner when compared to Alpha Hydroxy Acids. And unlike Alpha Hydroxy Acids, they don’t increase your skin’s sun sensitivity or vulnerability to sun damage. They\'re suitable for all skin types as they penetrate the skin slower causing no irritation.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS? Products can take up to six weeks to show full results, due to the time it takes for your skin cells to turnover and the results of any products to reach the surface. Consistency is key, so apply regularly even if you’re not seeing the effects straight away. It can be very tempting to increase use of some products to try and see quicker results, don't overdo it though. More is not necessarily more, and overuse can cause irritation and sensitivity.
