Facial serums are usually light in consistency, fast absorbing on the skin and often contain a high concentration of active ingredients.. They are designed to target specific concerns such as fine lines, hyperpigmentation, hydration or breakouts. Facial serums are applied after cleansing and before moisturiser in your routine.
With most facial serums, you can apply a pea-sized amount to clean skin and then follow with your moisturiser. Some facial serums come with particular instructions to ensure you get the most out of your product, for example our Ceramide Serum. We would recommend to apply this to clean skin and then wait 30 minutes or so before applying your moisturiser, this is to allow the product to fully absorb into the skin before applying another product on top. Before applying your facial serum, be sure to check the application instructions before use to be on the safe side!
Your choice of face serum depends on your individual skin type and concerns. Some face serums can benefit every routine, just like our Hyaluronic Acid Serum. How often you should use face serums can vary, depending on the active ingredients in the product. Some can be used twice daily and others are best used less frequently. Hydrating face serums, for example, are gentle on the skin and can be used morning and night - no problem. Whereas, retinol based or exfoliating serums can increase our skins sensitivity to UV exposure, so these are usually best applied in the evenings and not as often.
